Your situation
Finding a broker after credit difficulties
Previous repayment problems or declined applications can call for a careful conversation. You can tell us that you value relevant experience, while keeping in mind that the current journey does not establish your credit history or automatically select adverse-credit specialists.
Find brokers suited to your situationWhy broker fit can differ
Some brokers want adverse or impaired-credit work to form a meaningful part of their practice, while others focus elsewhere. A borrower may value a broker who is prepared to hear what happened, distinguish an old event from a current difficulty and explain the next conversation in plain language. That working fit can matter even before any product or lender is discussed.
Your Broker Match is not a credit repair service and does not decide whether an event is minor, serious, resolved or acceptable. It does not obtain a credit report, inspect repayment history or predict approval. The broad label “bad credit” can cover very different circumstances. A confirmed case needs accurate facts and a broker’s review rather than a label inferred from a preference answer.
What the matcher considers today
The current journey asks whether experience with past repayment problems or declines is something you would value. That answer is handoff context only. Choosing it does not mark your case as adverse credit, and declining it does not confirm a clear history. Because the journey does not currently ask enough to establish the circumstance, users should not read an ordinary match result as specialist adverse-credit routing.
Participating brokers can declare whether they accept adverse-credit cases and how much of that work they prefer. Those declarations can support matching when a case characteristic is established. In this journey, expressing a wish for relevant experience is not enough to establish that characteristic. The result should therefore not be treated as confirmation that a broker accepts your particular history.
State coverage and genuine case acceptance are hard boundaries. Softer preferences can include service style, guidance, readiness, language and phone, video or written communication. Capacity sits apart. Any rough figures entered are customer-stated and unverified, not a credit assessment or signal of approval.
Common situations
People may want a more careful broker conversation for many reasons, and the same event can have a different practical meaning depending on timing and context. Examples include:
- a previous home-loan or personal-loan application that was declined
- late or missed repayments during a temporary income disruption
- a default or collection entry the borrower already knows about
- a period of financial hardship followed by changed circumstances
- several recent credit applications that need to be discussed
- uncertainty about what appears on a credit report
Start with confirmed facts, not a self-diagnosis
If you know there has been a repayment issue, decline or listed event, describe it accurately without trying to predict how every lender will view it. Useful context can include what occurred, when it occurred, whether it has been resolved and whether the circumstances have changed. If you are unsure what is recorded, say that. Your Broker Match does not verify these details and should not be used to infer them.
A broker may later discuss obtaining a credit report, checking dates and balances, or explaining what further information may be relevant. Those steps take place outside the matcher. No lender matching, lender-policy research or document review is performed here, and a participating broker profile is not a recommendation, advice or a promise that finance is available.
For now, use the journey to express the kind of support and communication you want, then explore profiles with the limitation in mind. Live introductions are not currently delivered by the platform, so the practical outcome is a better-prepared conversation rather than a submitted enquiry or an assessment.
